Christian Praise Song: Day by Day

Day by Day, is a beautiful Hymn that I put together a few months ago. I didn’t have very good equipment so please take that into consideration when listening 🙂

The reason I am adding it here today, even though it is not a great copy, is because I received some very bad news today. I have a friend that is dying of cancer and he was told a few weeks ago that he had 3 months to live. Sadly, after taking a biopsy, the results came back today and they told him that he only had a week at the most.

I am very saddened by this turn of events and very discouraged about it all. I remembered this particular song “Day by Day” and remembered how it has always gotten me through the tough times before. It puts my eyes on Jesus and reminds me that He is in control. This gives me some peace and I hope it will do the same for you no matter what you may be going through.

Day by Day

Words by: Karolina Sandell-Berg (1865) Translated to English by: A.L. Skoog
Music by: Oskar Ahnfelt

1 Day By Day And With Each Passing Moment
Strength I Find To Meet My Trials Here
Trusting In My Father’s Wise Bestowment
I’ve No Cause For Worry Or For Fear
He Whose Heart Is Kind Beyond All Measure
Gives Unto Each Day What He Deems Best
Lovingly, Its Part Of Pain And Pleasure
Mingling Toil With Peace And Rest
2 Ev’ry Day The Lord Himself Is Near Me
With A Special Mercy For Each Hour
All My Cares He Fain Would Bear, And Cheer Me
He Whose Name Is Counsellor And Pow’r
The Protection Of His Child And Treasure
Is A Charge That On Himself He Laid
As Thy Days, Thy Strength Shall Be In Measure
This The Pledge To Me He Made
3 Help Me Then In Every Tribulation
So To Trust Thy Promises, O Lord
That I Lose Not Faith’s Sweet Consolation
Offered Me Within Thy Holy Word
Help Me, Lord, When Toil And Trouble Meeting
E’er To Take, As From A Father’s Hand
One By One, The Days, The Moments Fleeting
Till I Reach The Promised Land

Christian Praise: How Great Thou Art

How Great Thou Art

In Christian Praise, the lyrics to the Christian Song “How Great Thou Art” are very familiar even to those who are non Bible Believing Christians. It is a close runner up with the song “Amazing Grace” and for good reason.

As I have explained in other blog posts, Christian Praise is all about bringing our attention to the great things God has done in our lives. We need to focus on the great things God has done FOR us before we can worship Him for who He is. This is the distinction between Christian Praise and Worship.

Thinking about all of the wonderful things God has done for us and how he has created all good things for us helps us to concentrate on what a wonderful God we serve.

Read the lyrics and listen to the video and see if it doesn’t help you turn your attention away from your problems and onto God who is above all of these daily turmoil’s. Your daily problems will not seem so big when you realize how big your God is.

This song was originally a Swedish folk melody, called “O Store Gud” by Carl Boberg (1859-1940) It was translated in 1899 by Stuart K. Hine.

Here are the lyrics for “How Great Thou Art”

Verse1:

O Lord My God!

When I In Awesome Wonder Consider All The Worlds Thy Hands Have Made,

I See The Stars, I Hear The Rolling Thunder,

Thy Power Throughout The Universe Displayed:

Chorus:

Then Sings My Soul, My Savior God, To Thee

How Great Thou Art, How Great Thou Art!

Then Sings My Soul! My Savior God, To Thee

How Great Thou Art, How Great Thou Art!

Verse 2:

When Through The Woods And Forest Glades I Wander

And Hear The Birds Sing Sweetly In The Trees

When I Look Down From Lofty Mountain Grandeur

And Hear The Brook And Feel The Gentle Breeze

Chorus:

Then Sings My Soul, My Savior God, To Thee

How Great Thou Art, How Great Thou Art!

Then Sings My Soul! My Savior God, To Thee

How Great Thou Art, How Great Thou Art!

Verse 3:

And When I Think That God, His Son Not Sparing,

Sent Him To Die, I Scarce Can Take It In

That On The Cross, My Burden Gladly Bearing,

He Bled And Died To Take Away My Sin

Chorus:

Then Sings My Soul, My Savior God, To Thee

How Great Thou Art, How Great Thou Art!

Then Sings My Soul! My Savior God, To Thee

How Great Thou Art, How Great Thou Art!

Verse 4:

When Christ Shall Come With Shout Of Acclamation

And Take Me Home, What Joy Shall Fill My Heart!

Then I Shall Bow In Humble Adoration,

And There Proclaim, My God, How Great Thou Art!

Chorus:

Then Sings My Soul, My Savior God, To Thee

How Great Thou Art, How Great Thou Art!

Then Sings My Soul! My Savior God, To Thee

How Great Thou Art, How Great Thou Art!
